As I’m sure you’ve started to see every blogger shout from the rooftops, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins its first level of early access TODAY! Who’s shopping??
This is one of the biggest sales of the year, and if you’re wondering if you should care, the answer is… well, kind of. Here’s the deal: there are tons of items that are actually really good deals, then there are also countless things that are cheap to begin with and you probably don’t really need. Before I had a Nordstrom card that allowed me to shop the sale early, I would miss out on pricey pieces that were insanely marked down, then ended up buying them at full price later in the season. For that reason, I recommend taking advantage of the sale. But do you ~need~ all the paper thin tees and oh-so cozy sweaters that start to pill after three wears? Probably not. I’m hoping that’s where I can come in, because I’ll be curating my best of sale picks for y’all over the next couple weeks!
“But wtf is going on with all the levels and the dates and the card anddddd..?! ๐”
Okay yeah, this part is kind of confusing, right? In past years if you had a Nordstrom card, you automatically had early access to the sale with all other cardholders. This year they’re doing things a little bit differently where customers fall into varying levels based on their spending. If you have a card, you’re automatically an “insider,” but if you’ve spent a little more you qualify as an “influencer,” then an “ambassador,” and then an “icon,” which is the tier that can shop the sale starting today.
I included a guide to the different tiers below – if you log in to your Nordstrom account, or “The Nordy Club,” it will tell you which category you fall into and the date you can start shopping. If you don’t currently have a Nordstrom card but want to shop early, it’s not too late! You can still get one anytime before August 13 to get insider access before the sale opens to the public on August 19. It is a credit card, not a rewards card or one that’s tied to debit, so don’t get it if you tend to go a lil crazy with your spending limit haha! But if you shop at Nordstrom often – at this point I get everything I can there because their customer service and return policy is incredible – then getting a card is a no-brainer. It doesn’t have a yearly fee, you get rewards that translate into actual cash you can shop with, alterations credits, free curbside pickup, and a few other benefits. For more info and the terms & conditions, click here. This post is obviously not sponsored and I’m giving my full honest opinion as someone who has ignored the Nsale entirely, shopped it without a card, and shopped with it.
If you already have an account and are waiting for your access date, I’d start browsing the preview to the sale now. I spent the better part of a Friday morning the other week skimming the sale, giant coffee on deck, listening to the new T. Swift album, and adding everything that caught my eye to a huge wishlist. Not a bad way to pass the time, and now I’m all ready to go when my time comes! I’ll be sharing my wishlist shortly, but in the meantime I wanted to share the items that I think will sell out the fastest. If any of these strike your fancy, add them to your wishlist to shop right away when you get access!
I’ll continue sharing more of my picks (more fashion, home, beauty, activewear) all the way through public access, so make sure you’re following along here, on my instagram, and on my LikeToKnowIt on the free app! If you’re shopping something specific (mens, kids, etc.) and would like me to share some of those too, comment below or shoot me a DM โค๏ธ
My Best Seller Predictions
- Suede booties (originally $149.95, now $99.90): These are the 2020 version of last year’s best-selling it shoe, so prepare to see these booties all over the place come autumn. They’re available in four other colors and go with virtually everything in your closet.
- Striped cardigan (originally $69, now $39.90): Another item that I predict flying off the shelves is this soft colorblocked cardigan. Although it comes in five other colors, I think this combo is super cute for transitioning from summer into fall, all the way into winter!
- Snake print loafers (originally $149.95, now $99.90): A similar loafer quickly became a best seller in 2019, and with how versatile these are, I can see why. This classic, neutral snake print will be able to go with just about anything, making them a wardrobe staple for years to come. These come in six other colors and textures and I’m also obsessed with the pink croco leather.
- Faux leather leggings (originally $98, now $64.90): These are a huge blogger favorite with basically a cult following at this point, so I finally pulled the trigger on them last year during the sale. They were one of my most worn pieces in fall and winter, and I love how flattering they are. If you’ve always had your eye on them, you absolutely won’t regret finally scooping up a pair.
- Barefoot Dreams blanket (originally $180, now $119.90): Speaking of cult favorites, this blanket is one of Nordstrom’s best sellers EVER. I finally got one from our wedding registry and now I completely understand the hype. This print comes in seven other colors but if leopard isn’t your thing, the solid one (available in seven colors total) is on sale for $88.90. You definitely want to act fast on Barefoot Dreams items, because their stuff is rarely marked down and will absolutely sell out.
- Adidas sneakers (originally $85, now $49,90): These highly reviewed running shoes will not only be ideal for your morning jog, but are also cute enough for jeans and casual dresses. We love a versatile shoe moment! If you couldn’t relate when I said leopard might not be someone’s thing above, you’re going to really love one of the two other colors ๐
- Suede moto jacket (originally $188, now $111.90): This jacket has been on my list forever, and I think this is the year I might finally go for it. It also comes in a darker brown, but that french taupe is heaven.
- Wool hat (originally $59, now $38.90): There’s no better way to top off a fall outfit (or honestly any outfit, really) than with a classic wool hat, and this color is everything.
- Distressed Levi jeans (originally $98, now $63.90): A fresh update on the crowd favorite, now sold out 501s that I wore on the reg last fall, this pair has all the makings of a quick sellout.
- Star print lounge top and joggers (originally $39, now $24.90): With the current times we’re in, loungewear is going to be a category that gets picked over reallll quick. I’m especially into this cozy printed set that comes in six other colors/prints (honorable mention: the tie dye ๐) and also has an option for shorts if that’s more your vibe.
- Cozy long cardigan (originally $69, now $39.90): Leith cardigans repeatedly sell out each year during the sale, and with this season’s hues, this is going to be one to have waiting on your wish list. If you’re someone who likes to stock up on basics in several colors, this is one of those staple sweaters that you’ll want in black, grey, ivory, and maybe one of the fun fall colors like (my personal fave) the olive.
- Over the knee boots (originally $129.95, now $79.90): OTK boots are a wardrobe must year after year, and I don’t see them going out of style anytime soon. I love a pair with a low heel so that you can get more use out of them (and you avoid any unwanted channeling of pretty woman), and these have a great 3″ block heel. I’ve been bummed because my super comfy Steve Madden pair has been sold out forever and I could never find similar ones to link for you guys, so I’m really glad these are back (and available in cognac too)! Just be sure to grab ’em at the sale price, because that original price tag hurts my soul ๐
- Lash serum duo ($190 value, now $95): Neulash is beloved by many of my fellow short lash gals (I used it three years ago and really liked the results), but it’s never fun to shell out a huge chunk of change just for pretty lashes. This is something that would be smart to stock up on at this price, but I have a feeling everyone is going to have the same idea, so make sure it’s ready to go on your wish list. If you’ve always wanted to try the brow version to fill yours out a bit (I’ve heard AMAZING things), add that to your wishlist here.
- St. Tropez tanning mousse ($80 value, now $46): Another favorite to stock up on! Everyone’s go-to tanning mousse is available in a JUMBO size, so you can stay glowing with no orange tint or streaks well into fall.
- Pointed toe bootie (originally $189.95, now $99.90): I’m predicting both these and the first booties on the list to be huge this fall and winter, and most definitely sell out in several colors. These come in four other color options but I don’t know how I’m going to decide between the ivory leather, cloud suede, and cognac suede ๐คฉ They’re all SO freakin’ good.
- Suede miniskirt (originally $98.00, now $48.90): Just like the suede moto jacket above, BLANKNYC always comes out with a killer suede skirt each year. I’m in love with the sleek design this season, and that offset slit is perfection. It comes in the same two colors as the jacket, and again I have my eyes on that gorgeous taupe.
- AG ex-boyfriend jeans (originally $215.00โ$225.00, now $143.90): AG jeans are another one of those brands with a cult following, so it’s no surprise that this pair of cropped relaxed fit jeans has over 400 five star reviews. They’re definitely going on my wish list so I can see what all the fuss is about!
- Barefoot Dreams cardigan (originally $116.00, now $68.90): Another item that people go absolutely bonkers over, and for good reason. If you already have a Barefoot Dreams blanket, you know that you often want to wear it out of the house but like probably shouldn’t ๐, so this is the second best thing. It’s like wearing a hug which tbh we could all use a little more of in 2020. This cardi is available in three other colors and if you’re not feeling this style, this one is super popular and I really love this one as well.
- T3 curling iron (originally $160.00, now $107.00): Yet another Nordstrom sale item with a major following that will definitely go quick! Am I a broken record yet?! If you’ve followed bloggers for a few years, the name “T3” has probably haunted your nightmares by now lol. I think they’re incredibly overpriced at their original price, so this is another one you definitely want to take advantage of while it’s marked down.
- Fleece pullover (originally $78, now $45.90): This pullover has been part of the Nsale for the past couple of years, and always sells out. This year it’s available in two other colors that are both lined with leopard ๐คค, and I’m predicting those are going to fly!
- Hexagonal Ray Bans (originally $154.00, now $99.90): I mean, have you ever heard of paying ~less than $100~ (lmao influencer talk for 10 cents less) for a new Ray Ban style?! These are all over the place right now, so I feel like this deal is unheard of and stock won’t last long.
- Tory Burch crossbody (originally $498.00, now $299.90): There’s always a Tory Burch it bag at the sale, and I love how low key this one is. The logo isn’t too in your face, and it’s small and sleek yet looks like the ideal size to fit all your essentials. Similar to the T3, I think Tory pieces are offensively overpriced haha (that original number makes me wanna vom), so this is another one to make sure you jump on. It also comes in black!
- Slouchy boots (originally $239.95, now $149.90): These are the perfect fall boots to dress up with a miniskirt and cropped sweater, or dress down with jeans and an oversized flannel. Vince Camuto’s tortilla suede color is a literal work of art and goes with everything, but the black suede is also super chic.ย
- High waist leggings (originally $59.00, now $38.90): For some reason I’ve never fallen prey to everyone on my insta feed talking about how good omg these leggings are, but they’re always Nsale best sellers so I decided to check out the reviews – and WOW. There are 6.7K reviews and almost all of them are five stars! ๐ณ Several women claim they’re way better than Lulu, but I guess we’ll just have to try them for ourselves this year, won’t we?
Below I’ve included some photos of exact items or last year’s similar items with some sizing information, colors IRL, and styling inspo.
Wearing the Spanx faux leather leggings here in size small. Many recommend sizing up in these but since I’m usually between a 2/4, 26/27, XS/S, I went with the small and they’re great. If you’re going to wear them mostly for lounging, though, I might take the advice of sizing up one more!
Wearing the similar Levi 501 jeans and last year’s Vince Camuto bootie. I’m wearing a 26 in the jeans and I’d say they run a little roomier. I found the booties to run a little bit small, so I sized up to a 7 from my regular 6.5. Not sure if both will run similarly this year, but they say true to size on the site. Important side note: if you order the wrong size during the sale and then the item sells out, just hang onto it and exchange when the sale is over and your size is restocked. Nordstrom customer service is the GOAT. ๐๐ผ
Snuggling with the Barefoot dreams blanket here in stone/cream. It’s the perfect neutral for any living room or bedroom decor!
Wearing last year’s Sam Edelman slouchy boots, but these Vince Camuto boots are the most similar this year. These are the 2020 Sam Edelman boots, but they’re only available in black and cognac.
Wearing last year’s BLANKNYC suede miniskirt, but this year’s is soooo much better. The color options and classic design are just perfection. In this version I went with an XS, but this season’s design does say true to size on the website.
Wearing Steve Madden OTK boots from a few seasons ago. This new style runs small, so the site recommends ordering a half size up.
What’s on your wish list for the Nordstrom sale?? I’ll be sharing mine next!
